Early one Sunday morning Lexi and I got up, threw together some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hailed a taxi and headed downtown. A friend of ours had hooked us up with an eight hour boat tour to the Tracy Arm fjord that I had been dying to go on.

I had heard so much about the tour from locals and tourists but I honestly had no idea what it all entailed... until I was standing on a boat in the middle of the bluest water I had ever seen, watching seals bark at each other while lying on large sheets of ice that had broken off a nearby glacier. Yeah I felt like I was in a National Geographic ad.

It was freeeezzinggggg outside and I was ill prepared with my rain jacket but I couldn't pass up staying on the top deck of the boat most of the time. Again I think I filled all 32gb of my phone with pictures from the day because I didn't want to miss all the solid photo ops. We made friends with the couple in front of us on the boat after they overheard me explaining to Lexi in the most serious of voices, "seals look like bear mermaids don't they?" We then made it a game to decide which animals would cross to make the best seal. Our naturalist decided on a slug and a pig. Odd but valid.

There was a host on the boat that attended to all of our apple cider and hot chocolate needs and the naturalist answered every one of our typical tourist questions. While I don't drink alcohol I think one of my favorite parts was watching the host break off pieces of the floating ice in the water to use for the "glacieritas" the tour company was so famous for.

It was breathtaking and beautiful and I'm positive this is where they filmed Avatar.

Love, Lundie
